Story

This is a remake of a song originally recorded on the Hellhounds debut cd "Leavin' my troubles behind" in 1995. It's about heartbreak, heartache and heartburn... you get the idea... and gettin' back in the saddle again. It was originally recorded with just acoustic guitars back in '95... This time I decided to spice it up a bit with a full electric band, including some killer keyboards.

Story

This song was the result of a conversation I had over breakfast (at my favorite diner) with my longtime drummer and friend Jerry Osterhoudt. When Jerry asked me " why I had a PO Box" I replied... "I don't know - that's all I ever had" - and the rest as they say is history.

Story

This song is about my grandpa and the basement of his house in West Hempstead, Long Island, NY. As kids, we always thought the basement was a cool and mysteries place... we had no idea that at one time it was a "Speakeasy" and grandpa made "bathtub gin"... go figure! It had a bar made from an old casket ( he worked at Calvary cemetery in Queens NY). What a place to play some blues...

Spark Plug Smith

Story

This song was recorded in 1933 by Spark Plug Smith... There's not too much more known about him... I learned it from listening to Jorma Kaukonen ( from the Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna ) The oldest proffesional business in the world... Things haven't changed much...

Junior Wells

Story

I met the late great Junior Wells at a gig in Upstate New York in May of 1996... I managed to get into the Green Room with him just before he went on... It was just me and him... I got an autograph and we had a drink and get this... He was pissed that I never had asked him to play on any of my cd's... Who would have thought!!! I always thought he was a great performer... Right there with Buddy and Muddy!

Skip James

Story

Skip James - what can I say? The consumate bluesman (along with Robert Johnson I must add). The epitome of a bluesman. This song rings true today as it did so many years ago when it was recorded. We recorded this with just guitar and a miniature pump organ... oh yea and some harp just for good measure.
